ABC Reacts: Gov. Hochul Signs 3 Affordable Housing Bills
The following statement is attributed to Associated Builders & Contractors, Empire State Chapter President Brian Sampson Reacting to Gov. Hochul's Signature of Three Affordable Housing Bills:
"We support the new J-51 tax incentive that will help property owners navigate the high construction costs in New York and improve the safety and quality of life of the families living in their properties. Our members stand ready to build new housing units, and we support these laws signed by Governor Hochul,” said Associated Builders & Contractors Empire State Chapter President Brian Sampson.
“However, the state must further address the affordability crisis by doing more, including bringing back the 421-a tax incentive that expired last year. Leaders in Albany must also work to lower the cost of construction. They can do that by keeping harmful Project Labor Agreements and prevailing wage mandates off housing projects. That’s the only way we can reach Gov. Hochul’s goal of developing 800,000 new units."
