Election day is almost upon us, and November 8th is right around the corner.
Below, you will find an election briefing intended to educate you on each race happening here in New York. If you have any questions, please contact the ABC Government Affairs team.
1st District (Suffolk County)
Race for an open seat, meaning no incumbent is running in this race. This is a seat that both parties will look to pick up this November.

19th District (Southern Tier, Catskills & Hudson Valley)
This is an interesting district. There was a special election to decide who will finish Rep. Antonio Delgado's term after he left that seat open when he accepted the Lt. Governor position. That term will only last until the General Election during which time a new candidate will be selected to be the next representative of NY-19.
Though Pat Ryan won this special election for the 19th District, due to redistricting, Pat will then run in the General Election for NY-18, where he was born and raised and resides.
There was no Republican primary for the nomination, Marc Molinaro will be the candidate even though Pat Ryan defeated him to finish Rep. Delgado's term.

- Tenney served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2017
- in 2014, she challenged incumbent U.S. Representative Richard L. Hanna in the Republican primary and lost.
- Tenney was elected to Congress in 2016 after Hanna retired
- She narrowly lost reelection to Democrat Anthony Brindisi in 2018. Tenney challenged Brindisi in 2020; the seat remained vacant at the start of the 117th United States Congress because the race was too close to call. On February 5, 2021, New York Supreme Court Judge Scott DelConte ruled in Tenney's favor, allowing her to be declared the winner of the 2020 election. Tenney took office six days later.
