2024 Summer Recap

The summer of 2024 has been busy and filled with a variety of fun events that brought our ABC community members together, from our exciting golf tournaments to our annual Yankee game. We also held engaging political events and lively happy hour networking gatherings. Our summer events are designed to strengthen relationships and foster connections among our members.

We had hundreds of attendees from across the Empire state to attend these events. This summer was a testament to the vibrant and supportive network ABC continues to build. Relive the memories of our best summer yet! Here's a look at the highlights from our summer gatherings:

Golf Tournaments

This summer, our annual golf tournaments were nothing short of spectacular. With perfect weather and pristine courses, our members enjoyed challenging rounds while fostering professional relationships.

Whether you were aiming for that elusive hole-in-one or simply enjoying a day out on the greens, the tournaments provided a fantastic opportunity for networking in a relaxed setting. Congratulations to our tournament winners, and thank you to all who participated!

Western New York

On June 3rd, 2024, our members gathered for a fantastic day of golf at the Lockport County Club for our Western New York golf outing. The competition was fierce, with United Rentals claiming first place with an impressive score of 59, followed closely by United Materials in second with a score of 62.

Special congratulations to Ryan Glenn for winning the "Closest to the Pin" contest and to Derek Austin for his powerful "Longest Drive." The day concluded with a lively Happy Hour, a raffle of gift baskets, and a delicious dinner, making it a memorable event for all who attended.

Greater Rochester

On June 17th, 2024, we hosted our Rochester golf tournament at the picturesque Cobblestone Creek Country Club, where members braved the heat with temperatures soaring over 90 degrees. Despite the challenging weather, ES Systems emerged victorious, securing first place, while the ABC board took second.

Congratulations to Marco Rodriguez for winning "Closest to the Pin" and to Jeremy Burger for his impressive "Longest Drive." After the tournament, attendees enjoyed a festive awards ceremony and basket raffles. The day was made even better with a delicious breakfast and lunch at the turn, featuring mouthwatering Cuban sandwiches.

Central New York

On July 18th, 2024, we held our Central New York golf tournament at the scenic Links at Erie Village in East Syracuse, where perfect weather greeted over 100 enthusiastic golfers. The competition was intense, with Kamco Supply securing first place, followed closely by Syracuse Time and Alarm in second.

The event was a resounding success, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s outing, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 17th 2025.

Long Island

On July 9th, 2024, we hosted our Long Island golf tournament at the historic Bethpage Golf Club, which will host the 2024 Ryder Cup. The event drew over 120 golfers, kicking off with a hearty breakfast and concluding with a celebratory dinner and awards ceremony. The day was filled with camaraderie and competitive spirit, making it a memorable outing at one of golf's most iconic venues.

A special thanks goes to our dedicated golf committee, whose hard work was instrumental in making this event successful. Chris from CM Richey, Lisa from P&W Electric, Payton from USI, and Craig from Eisner Amper all played critical roles in ensuring everything ran smoothly. Their efforts in organizing and setting up the tournament were invaluable, contributing significantly to the overall success of the day.

New York City

ABC National CEO Mike Bellaman, ABC Empire State Chapter Board Chairman Tom Santa Barbara, Chapter President Brian Sampson, and over 100 members from New York City joined us at Wykagal Country Club for ABC's 2nd Annual NYC Golf Outing. The weather was perfect and the course presented a significant challenge to the golfers. We didn't hear anyone say anything but great things about the course, the food, the drinks, and the staff at Wykagyl.

ABC Night at the Ballpark - Yankee Game!

Not even the rain could keep our ABC community from the game. Members gathered at Yankee Stadium to enjoy America’s favorite pastime, cheering on the Bronx Bombers as they took to the field. The evening was filled with energy, excitement, and plenty of ballpark snacks. Beyond the action on the field, the game provided a perfect backdrop for casual networking and catching up with fellow members in a relaxed, fun environment. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable night!

Reflecting on these summer events, we're reminded of the importance of coming together as a community. These gatherings are not just about enjoying the activities but also about reinforcing the relationships that make our association strong. Brews with Builders Happy Hours!

Our networking outings this summer were a resounding success, offering members a chance to connect outside the office. These events featured a mix of casual meetups and more structured gatherings, allowing members to share ideas, discuss industry trends, and build lasting connections. From rooftop mixers to afternoon socials, each outing was designed to create an atmosphere where members could engage in meaningful conversations and expand their professional networks.

PAC Breakfast

The chapter had our political breakfast event, which was a great success, bringing together influential leaders and ABC members. The event was held at the Historic Fort Orange Club and featured key speakers, including Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, Assemblyman & fmr. ABC Board Chairman Chris Tague and ABC National Manager of Legislative Affairs Chris Vaughan. All proceeds from the breakfast will go to our ABC Empire State PAC which is what the Chapter uses to financially support the candidates who will make a positive impact on our industry and who believe in the merit shop philosophy.

2024 National Legislative Conference

At the end of June, our team attended ABC National's 2024 Legislative Conference, an event packed with valuable insights and networking opportunities. The conference featured a series of informational breakout sessions that delved into current regulatory developments and provided a strategic outlook on the upcoming 2024 election. A highlight of the trip was the private tour of the Capitol Building arranged for the Empire Chapter, where we had the privilege of meeting with New York's congressional delegation to discuss key issues impacting our industry. This experience not only broadened our understanding of the legislative landscape but also strengthened our advocacy efforts at the federal level.
